About Me- Sarah Thiessen
Art has always been something I have been interested in. At an early age I was drawing and painting picture after picture. Eventually I got so involved in the craft that I decided to take up art lessons to fine tune my ability and did so for two years. Out of that I grew to understand and appreciate the aspect of being an artist so much more. It was an amazing feeling to be able to take a pencil or paintbrush and express whatever I wished on a blank canvas to share with the people around me.
From there I also began to pursue other means of artistic creativity, that is when I stumbled across the internet and something called HTML. I was very intrigued by the idea of being able to put up personal pages created for ones self or a company and express their needs and capabilities to the world. Websites slowly became my passion and my pride and joy to create. When I was fourteen I taught myself how to hand code HTML and took off from there. Over my years in high school I maintained and helped maintain many websites devoted to my favourite books, movies and actors and actresses over the years. I moved from server to server learning and training myself to different ways of designing and having my creations perceived from people all over the world.
When I was sixteen I discovered Photoshop and learned how to use all of its many features and various different versions of the program itself. That is when my designing really seemed to take off for me. I learned so many different ways to create pictures out of brushes and textures featured on the program, and when those got old I found new ones to integrate into my creations.
After High school I went to college and received a Web Designer Diploma in 2006. From there I knew that my passion was always going to be in creating websites and graphics. And so over the past few years I have acquired a few small jobs creating graphics for pamphlets, and posters. I continued to explore website design and decided to start up my own business in that field.
Recently I was approached to assist a movie director in creating and developing graphics for his movie. Out of that I created artwork for a CD Face, CD Insert and Exterior covers, as well as a DVD face, DVD insert and Exterior covers for that as well. It was a thrilling experience and I learned a lot from it.
Since the start of 2009 I have been working on a few different projects, including the three websites featured in my portfolio on my Web Work Page.
I enjoy the challenge of the creative process and working with clients to help achieve a finished product that meets everyone's needs and expectations.
